Vintage Volkswagon Kombi Camper 1978 Retro Cool

‘Travis’ is regrettably for sale due to a move overseas. He is a much-loved 1978 VW Kombi, which we’ve owned for the past ten years. We travelled and camped in Travis throughout Victoria but there’s not been much use over the past four years because of small children. If we were not moving, Trav would be heading for a restoration and some seatbelts in the back so we could all enjoy a very cool kombi.
He has a new battery and drives, and was last serviced in 2013. Unleaded, 2.0 litre engine. Given his age, Travis has some rust in various areas, drivers door and panel, on top of the front windscreen, along some window seals, below the engine door, on the side sliding door and back panel, the drivers door also has a dent and a hole. This is the worst of the rust but there is no guarantee there is not more we don’t know about.
His poptop works and is in very good condition, the canvas has two mozzie net windows for ventilation. The side door needs fixing and currently doesn’t open. Bought with fridge and gas cooker but have not tested and don’t know if working. Rock and roll back seat with matching large boot cushion forms comfy bed. Lots of storage plus sink and water tank that are untested.
If you have some mechanical knowledge and can remove rust or just have the dollars to pay an expert you could transform Travis into an uber cool, stylish, head turning kombi. We will be very sad to see him go and hope he finds an awesome new home for his next phase of adventures.
Last registered in Vic, we’ve unregistered him for sale. No RWC. Being sold in ‘as is’ condition.
