Description

VW Lupo 1.4 16v E - VERY LOW MILES FOR YEAR
This is my daughters Lupo, we purchased it as her first car because of ubiquitous VW reliability (especially given its low miles) and it wasn’t so slow as to be unsafe on a motorway whilst still having low cost insurance. Its Encap rating was also very good for a small car of the period.
It was purchased from an acquaintance whose mother owned it until she became too infirm to drive so we knew its history. It would be used for the trip to the supermarket and the WI each week hence when we purchased it the mileage was just 36,000. It now shows the still very low mileage of under 49,000. She had a small garage in the same village look after it and would service it annually even though it had hardly been anywhere. It was garaged and has no rust. She did used to bump into shopping trolleys now and then and would get these dings repaired professionally and if you look carefully a trained eye can spot these, but no panel damage occured.
When we purchased it the only fault was the clutch pedal was very low. I assumed the clutch was worn out from the old dear riding the pedal but once it was apart the clutch plate was only half worn. We had a new one fitted anyway since it was apart. I then discovered Lupos and Polos (and the Seat equivalent) from this era had a recall on their pedal boxes as they were cracking. The pedal box was replaced with the improved version (a big job, a garage charges around £350) and all is well. Check this has been done on any Lupo/Polo you buy.
Whilst the gearbox was out it was refilled with high quality synthetic as these are the other weak point on these otherwise brilliant little cars when they get to high mileages.
These are great for first cars as the insurance is cheap, they are stable and safe on the motorway and visibility is excellent from the large windows. It is the 75hp engine and with such a low mileage and previous maintenance it should be absolutely trustworthy. I put a new battery and alternator on it when we got it just to make sure it starts every time and it has 4 brand new premium tyres which were over £400.
It has the CD and tape player and comes with the adaptor to plug your iPhone/iPod in if you want it.
We are selling because my daughter is currently working at an orphanage in Africa for the summer and will then be back to University, so it will just stand in the garage.
Viewing is recommended and inspections by professionals are welcome. I know its not cheap but you won't get better for the price.
