Description
Up for sale is my
authentic 1969 Meyers Manx dune buggy. It is currently
registered and licensed in Colorado as a 1968 VW and has a clear title in my
name. This beautiful eye-catching Manx
has the original B.F. Meyers & Company serial number tag and is listed on
the Meyers Manx registry. In addition,
it's been personally autographed by Bruce Meyers himself on both the rear
fender deck and on the dashboard.
The Manx sits on a 1968 VW pan with ball joint front and swing-axle rear. When the Manx was restored in 2007, everything was new or rebuilt including new brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, front wheel bearings, ball joints, and tie rods. The front beam was adjusted to give it a softer more responsive ride and lower stance. The rear was also adjusted to soften the ride and to give the proper stance to the swing-axle. The steering column is from a 1967 VW and has a new turn signal lever with the built in high beam switch.
The body was repainted in the blue metal flake color that it started life with when it was originally molded in 1969. There are only a few small chips that are not noticeable; otherwise, the paint is in great shape and really sparkles in the sun. The inside of the tub and the top of the pans have been sprayed with white bedliner for durability. The bottom of the pan is black. The side pods, dash, stainless steel front bumper, stainless steel roll bar, and Sidewinder exhaust are all authentic replacements purchased from the Meyers Manx Store. It has the original, hard to find, front and rear Manx badges.
The engine is a 1776cc with dual Dellorto 36 carbs, hydraulic lifters, SVDA distributor with electronic ignition. It has a new Pertronix Flamethrower coil, and new 8mm Taylor Spiro-Pro plug wires. I've also installed a Mallory Hyfire 6a Capacitive Discharge Ignition system that helps it burn fuel more efficiently and run smoothly as well as giving it a boost in power. The buggy is equipped with a vintage Hurst copper shifter that has been rebuilt and shifts smoothly. The shifter knob is an authentic Meyers Manx knob with the Manx logo.
This Manx runs very smoothly and reliably with plenty of power. It easily cruises at 75 mph, and can zip up and down the steep grades of the Rocky Mountains.
The Manx is wired 12 volt and has a new Bosch generator and new Bosch solid state voltage regulator. Everything works as they should including head lights, high beams, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, emergency flashers, windshield wipers, speedometer, tachometer, gas gauge, oil pressure light and temperature light. The battery is a Duralast Gold that's about 1 1/2 years old.
It has vintage VW 4 bolt aluminum slotted rims. The fronts are 14"x7" with P215/60R14 tires. The rears are 15"x10" with 275/60R15 tires.
Included with the Manx is a brand new, never used tow bar; a brand new, never used car cover; and a few spare new and used parts.
I purchased this Manx a little over 2 1/2 years ago from the person who restored it. It's been stored indoors in my shop. The only reason I am selling it is I'm just not driving it much and I would rather let somebody else enjoy it.
This is a beautiful, tastefully restored Manx that draws lots of smiles, waves, and thumbs-up when it's out on the road. It's mechanically sound and ready to drive and enjoy.
This Manx is for sale locally and can be removed from the auction at any time. A $1000.00 non-refundable deposit is due through PayPal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance is due within 7 days. Payment must be in the form of cash or a bank cashier's check. I will not sign over the title or relinquish control of the vehicle until the check has cleared at my bank. The buyer is responsible for shipping and all related costs. I can store the Manx in my shop as long as necessary until the buyer arranges for pick-up. The buggy is sold as, is where is, and there is no written or implied warranty.
Thanks for looking and considering this Manx. Please feel free to ask any questions. Good luck bidding!!
