Description
1966 VW Dune Buggy
This Dune Buggy only has a little over 1700 miles on a ground up build. Just about everything was new or refurbished when it was assembled and it looks, feels and drives like it's practically new!
Titled as a 1966 (no emissions for Arizona) it is a long body on a full size pan- gives plenty of room for 4 passengers. The pan is rust free and freshly painted. It appears to be an earlier Acme or Berrien Body, orderedfrom the manufacturer with a sparkling Metal flake Green paint job; including theoptional side panels.
Some of the features:
Low-rise windshield in polished aluminum frameChrome roll-barChrome side view mirrorsChrome headlight bucketsTurn signals with front chrome free standing lights front, and led rear lights embedded in bodyRacing style flip open fuel fillerPolished Center line wheels front and rear w/ chrome centers and locking wheel lugsAlmost new tires- front Dunlop 205/55/15, rear Cooper raised white letter 275/60/15All new Auto Meter gauges- Speedometer, Tachometer, oil and fuel3-spoke aluminum racing steering wheelEmpi Speed shifter with reverse lock-outChrome parking brake leverHorn- activated by washer lever in turn signalCloth covered racing seats in front with 3-point racing seat belt mounts (over shoulder straps not shown in picture but go with buggy and mounts are already in)Rear seat beltsCarpetingNo windshield wipers, but has the recesses in the hood to install them.
I did not have information on the motor build, but from the way it runs I would guess it may be in the 1700 cc range. It is a dual port with 2 barrel Weber carb and has a mild cam. It runs very strong and sounds great with the after market performance exhaust used. Plenty of chrome was used on the motor and it looks great! Clutch, trans and brakes are solid with no issues. This Buggy drives, steers and stops straight, and with the long wheelbase, has a great ride- not twitchy like the short-wheelbase buggies.
This buggy is ready to go and needs nothing but a new driver. It is available for inspection in Scottsdale, Arizona. Please email for appointment. I have additional pictures and if you have any questions please contact me. The Buggy is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
