1980 Volkswagen Rabbit Lx

Attracted by the foretold 50mpg fuel economy I built this truck. I spared no expense and all rusted sections were replaced with new sheet metal. Over 200 hours invested by a certified welder. However upon completion and finally driving this vehicle I realized that the VW was lacking in comparison to the Chevy Duramax diesel I am accustomed to. And embarrassingly enough to say I had trouble fitting my gut behind the steering wheel. I drove the truck for about 3 weeks and decided that it was not the vehicle for me.
This truck was built to be a daily driver not a show car therefore it has some small imperfections that most will not notice. There is a small dent in the rear of the bed not noticeable in pictures and unnoticeable unless you are looking for it, the truck is missing the clips to the air breather box I used zip ties as it seems to do the job, truck currently does not havens cap over passenger side of front bumper I have it somewhere and will find it before it is picked up and it will need a battery as the one in it is an oversized marine battery that does not fit properly.
The title of the truck is currently listed as salvage. However should be easily changed back to a clear title after a Sheriffs inspection. It had a clear title when I received it however upon transfer I told them I needed to work on it before actually licensing it and they changed the title to salvage and told me to have it inspected by the Sheriff and they would change it upon registration. I run a salvage yard and have dealer plates so therefore I do not typically register any of my vehicles and just run on the dealer tags and insurance so I never planned on having it changed. However I had it inspected by the Sheriff yesterday and will include the KY sheriffs inspection.
The truck has new tires, floor pans, and rebuilt shock towers. The engine was purchased from Westport Automotive in Louisville KY and has been rebuilt. It is still a standard 1.6 diesel. It has a working air conditioner that blows cold air.
You will not find many other trucks in this good of condition. If you are looking for a daily driver with great fuel economy and can fit behind the steering wheel this is the vehicle for you. If you are looking for a show truck you will have to put a little bit more work into it but this is a great starting point with only minor work required.
