Description
A true survivor and highly collectable 1971 140 series Volvo. Except for the driver front door which is slightly off-color (please see pic), this car is wearing it's original paint! and there are no signs of accidents either. The original paint has 40 years of patina, so this car isn't hiding any surprises! The doors, hood and trunk lid all close and latch like new, and the windows all function nicely. The leather seats are in very nice condition too except for a seam that has been sewn on the back bench (please see pic). The carbureted B20 engine starts immediately (no troublesome EFI), no major oil leaks or smoking. The robust Borg Warner BW-35 automatic gear box shifts through all the gears and the 4 wheel disc brakes stop the car as they should. This is an ARIZONA car, so the chrome and trim have zero pitting.
Even with the lack of amenities, the early Volvo 140's were the best! Simple, sturdy, reliable, safe and economical. And in my humble opinion, the best looking!
Full disclosure- There was a narrow strip (1/2'' x 4'') of rust on the rear step area that was repaired, there are small dents in the bottom of both side rocker panels (please see pics) and the previous owner installed an expensive floor shifter?? instead of sourcing an original column shifter ($120.) The tires have lots of tread, but old.
So this 40 year old classic isn't without flaws, but take another look. This car is a TRUE SURVIVOR. A terrific candidate to restore OR safeguard it's originality and enjoy as is.
Thank you for viewing my Volvo!
