Description
NON-RUNNING Volvo ready for father & son project or hobbyist mechanic. One of the connector rods broke as best as my mechanic can tell and due to a lack of time, money, and space, I am left with trying to find it a new home.
This car is truly a one of a kind vehicle, even against other P1800s. The previous owner had made some body modifications including adding an air scoop, reshaping the front grill, removing some of the excessive 70's chrome details, and relocating the gas cap. A factory model straight out of Sweden this is not. However, if you want a sweet ride unlike any other car on the road (and have or can invest in a rebuilt or re-purposed engine), then this may be the car for you.
Other than the connector rod/engine, the other bits and pieces all worked the last time the car was running (radio with CD, auto-extending radio antenna, 4-wheel disc brakes, headlights, etc.). No power steering, no airbags, standard 4-gear manual shifting with overdrive (aka 5th gear). The interior seats had their leather reupholstered, a new dashboard was installed two years ago. There is a small rear backseat that flips up, but currently lacks seat belts. Passenger door has issues with locking.
This is a 43 year old car that has had a life on the road, not stored in some showroom, so expect wear and tear throughout (chips, dents, peeling paint, stains, etc.). No major body damage however, and has not been involved in any accidents since purchased in 2001. Odometer currently reads 224,999 miles, but was broken at one point and later repaired so not an accurate measure of mileage. Fuel injection system was removed and replaced with typical carburetor. Small crack in front right of windshield that was repaired by Safelite Autoglass, but is still visible.
This car was used as my sole means of transportation with regular maintenance from the same mechanic, however for long periods of time it was sitting idle. Currently it has spent a year outside on the driveway so will need to be flushed out in addition to replacing the engine. This is sold in "as-is" condition, with no warranties expressed or implied.
I am located in Southern California, and had some interest from local buyers, but wanted to open up the market via eBay. As the car does not run, buyer will be responsible for towing and/or shipping upon purchase. I will assist in coordinating any pickups efforts that are reasonable. Any shipping companies selected by buyer will be required to be fully bonded and insured. Only accepting payment via PayPal or cash. I expect pick-up and shipping to be completed within 1 week of sale. Please note that the current California registration has expired and buyer will be responsible for registration fee if the car remains in state.
If you have any additional questions or would like additional photos, please let me know. I will respond to any queries within 12 hours (likely sooner).
Thank you for taking the time and hopefully I can find someone to give this one of a kind P1800E all the love and care it deserves.
