Description
Up for sale is a manual 1972 Volvo P1800 with the B20 prime for restoration and includes inspection and repair documentation from the late 80’s onward. The car is currently titled(clear) registered and insured. The previous owner had started the restoration process and my original intent was to complete it, but unfortunately other obligations have come up. Hopefully third time’s a charm!
The good:
-Was running and driving nicely before start of restoration
-Solid B20 Engine still has honing marks and new gaskets, water pump and thermostat
-“Professionally” replaced: lower rear fascia, rocker, rear quarter panel, fenders with parts from Don Thibault
-Actually Professionally replaced all new Floor Pans and frame section
-Rebuilt Rear End
-Included are all the original parts, hood, gauges, wiring harness, badges, chrome trim, etc. and hardware that is bagged and tagged
-Tons of new parts!!!!
95% of all rubber seals, Bushings and gaskets etc.
Brand new Carpet
New Dash cover
Seat belts
Wipers
Hood Insulation
Transmission Gaskets
many others small things
-Glass is all there and not cracked
-Gas tank was recently cleaned and resealed
-Bilstein Shocks, sport springs,
-Paint and previous bodywork is stripped, so there are no secrets!
The not so good:
-The “professionally” replaced fender and lower patches were done with a mediocre quality, you could fill over them and be fine but they were not done to A+ quality
-there are a few small rusty areas of interest around the car (see photos)
-the car was repainted twice, it was originally paint code 111 and them was sprayed a dark blue and then I believe paint code 42
-Plastic Grille has a crack in it - fixable
What it still needs:
-Headliner
-Door Panels
-Seats are not bad (medium wear) so possibly new seat covers
-body work
-paint
Overall this is a great example of a strong restore-able car with a little elbow grease. It has wonderful potential and I would love to see it restored. If you have any questions, would like more detail or would like a specific photo of a particular spot let me know.
