Description
2005 Volvo S40 2.4i, 5-spd manual, ~101k miles. I've had the car for about a year, bought it with 87k and have all receipts and a full maintenance spreadsheet of everything done during my ownership. I have completed every service according to the factory manual.
Main repairs completed:
87k: Timing belt and tensioner; idler pulley; water pump; right motor mount ; drive belts; spark plugs; oil trap box, trap box hoses, & clamps90k: Washer pump 98k: Right front axle bearing 99k: Catalytic converter (24 month, unlimited mileage warranty); right rear O2 sensor; right rear wheel bearing
Good:Currently has summer tires installed. Firehawk Indy 500 205/55R-16's on factory wheels with only ~4,000 miles.Includes full set of winter tires. General Altimax Arctic 205/55R16's on black steel wheels. Only ~6,500 miles on them.Car is solid mechanically. As mentioned, I have completed all scheduled maintenance during my ownership as well as a few preventative items.Transmission and clutch are good. Shifts smoothly, no grinding or popping out of gear.All electronics work as they should.All side windows and rear window have an aftermarket, 35% tint installed by a dealer before being purchased by the previous owner. Its within the legal limit in Illinois and I have the spec sheet stating its 35%.Body has no rust.The interior is in really good shape with the exception of a few carpet stains and a small tear on the driver's seat.Comes with a Volvo roof rack. Its a little beat up, but functional.Clean title in hand.Bad:
Faint ticking noise coming from the transmission. Disappears once the clutch pedal is pressed in. Hasn't gotten any worse since I've had it and I'm guessing it's the throw-out or input bearing. Either could be replaced the next time the clutch is changed.AC is ice cold but it has started randomly kicking off during the last couple of months. It comes back on if you turn the AC off and back on.There are dents on the roof in 3 of the 4 areas where the roof rack mounts (see pictures). I found them when I removed it. It was either installed incorrectly or used to carry too much weight by the previous owner.The parking brake boot-clips are broken. Just cosmetic and not very noticeable. The brake itself works great.
I also have the CarFax report from last year. It's a 12 year old car and is being sold as-is with no warranty or guarantees. I encourage anyone to come and look at it in person.
I do drive it occasionally, so the mileage will go up a bit.
