Description

I built this car in 2012-13 using one of the original 16 or so Paul England Ausca fibreglass bodies from the mid-1950s. It is based on a brand new Kilmartin Austin Healey 100 chassis, with an added framework of 38mm cold rolled seamless tube fabricated by Norm Singleton. The roll bar is removable. The bulkheads and floors are aluminium. The running gear is Austin Healey 100. Front suspension has camber adjustment, and there are Monroe telescopic shock absorbers all round. There are dual circuit brakes with dual master cylinders and balance bar, and a booster for the front brakes. The motor is an unmodified Alfa 105 1750cc with twin 40DCOE32 Webers, electronic ignition, electric fan. There is a 40 litre foam filled fuel cell. Gearbox is Alfa 5 speed, recent new clutch. Rear axle is Austin Healey 100 spiral bevel 4.125:1. Tyres are Avon CR6ZZ 175/70R15 radials. Instruments are period Alfa. The car weighs 700kg all up so with 118bhp the power to weight ratio is about 168bhp/tonne – and of course there is still opportunity to develop the motor. The lights, indicators and horn are all operational with a view to possible road registration. I have used the car only for GEAR club tack days over the past two years, during which time its done about 600 kms. With me driving it gets round Lakeside in about 1:23, which is not necessarily an indication of its true potential! It is a neutral handling car. A tandem trailer may be available at extra cost. Contact me via 'contact seller' to view - recommended. Weather permitting can be seen at Lakeside on 4th February.
