Description

This is a 1965 Austin Healey 3000 reproduction, manufactured by Classic Roadsters of Fargo North Dakota, factory-built in 1987. The frame is specially built for this vehicle and is a box frame. The car has front coil over shocks and positraction with a 9 inch rear. The transmission is a 5 speed. The car has a Ford 302 motor with Edelbrock heads and an Edelbrock carb with MSD ignition. Approximately 300 hp. There are 26,014 miles on the car. The car weighs less than 2500 lbs with a 94.5 wheelbase and a 1.0g skidpad which tells you the handling of this car is better than most Cobras. There is an AM/FM/memory card player stereo with front and rear speakers, retractable antenna. The car has a heater and defroster which are handy here in New England in the Spring or Fall or on Summer evenings. There is factory installed AC but because we never used it it has lost its charge. I should have turned it on sometimes but almost always had the top off and rarely drove anywhere in traffic, just countryside rides or cruises and never gave it a thought.
The car is in excellent condition. Always garaged, never taken out in the rain, and always stored inside, covered for the winter. We did get caught in a rain shower twice while out for longer rides but other than that it only got wet when washed. A photo shows pretty well the condition underneath. The engine is idling in the outdoor photos and you can see no smoke from the exhausts. There are no leaks or drips. The car sits in one spot all winter and there is not a drop on the floor. Nothing dripping while running either. The tires have about 13,000 miles and after winter have each lost about 2 lbs of pressure. The car passed inspection last May and I have no doubt it will pass next month.
The soft top, boot and tonneau cover are made of a heavy cloth that is used on luxury cars, far better than lightweight standard cloth or vinyl. All are in excellent condition and with no winter use will stay that way. The soft top and frame fold down and can be covered tightly with the boot as you can see. I had an extra piece added to the tonneau cover so that it can be snapped onto the boot and all can be attached when driving. The fiberglass top is light and easily removed. Soft and hard top rear windows are both clear as photos show.
The red color is more accurately reproduced in the photos taken inside the garage. It is a rich red, all fiberglass body, clear gel coat shiny as new. There are a very few tiny chips in the fiberglass that have been touched up with a drop of red paint. You'd never find them in the photos. We did not buy the car as an investment or for show so it went for many, many out-in-the-country rides to be enjoyed and has over the years caught a tiny stone or something. Can't be avoided if you want a car to enjoy. Overall I would still say the body is excellent.
The car is meant to be driven and enjoyed. It is great, reliable fun to drive, as much fun as an original roadster but at a much lower cost. And it is a rare model. We've waved to many other sports cars on our rides around New England and Upper NYS and have never seen another like it. We will miss it. I can not believe anyone who buys it to use as we have will be disappointed.
