1967 Morgan 4/4 1600 GT Roadster

Located in PORTLAND, OREGON.

This 1967 Morgan 4/4 1600 GT Roadster received a full restoration and was acquired approximately 20 years ago by noted British Motor Cars dealer, collector and racer, Monte Shelton (1933-2019.) Monte dealt in British Motor Cars from his Portland, Oregon showroom for over 40 years. Besides being the dealer for Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Rover, MG and other British makes, he bought and sold many Morgans over the years. The fact that he kept this one in his personal collection until his passing tells you it is something special.

The wood framed, steel body is exceptional, with no rot or sag. Doors close securely. Panel fit is excellent. The Sports Red and Black paint is beautiful with a deep shine. Chrome is bright and appears fresh with no pitting. True knock-off chrome wire wheels are excellent and wrapped by newer Nexen SB802 radial tires. Wood dashboard is well finished and surrounds the complete set of working gauges. All lights also work. Black leather seats may be original, present nicely and are comfortable. Black soft top and tonneau cover. Includes original tool roll, jack and knock-off hub hammer. Chassis is clean and rust-free throughout.

Under the bonnet is the upgraded powerplant: a Ford Cortina 1600 GT. 4 cylinder. Rated at 91 HP (as compared to the Morgan standard Ford Kent engine, rated at 65 HP.) Mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox, the added power gives this Morgan a rated 0-60 mph time of approximately 10 seconds and a top speed near 100 mph. It starts easily, runs smoothly with no unsual noises and is nicely detailed. Brakes were recently serviced and stop smooth and straight. The 43,127 miles showing on the odometer are believed to be correct, based on condition and known history, but cannot be documented due to age.

There is little to add. If you are looking for a fine Morgan with an excellent known pedigree for pleasurable touring or just fun around town, this is a good one. It has always received service by expert British Motor Car mechanics, with no expense spared. It is ready to enjoy now.
